LEVELING UP!

You’ve created a basic PONG or MAZE game in class.

Remember, start with simple game concepts while you are honing your coding skills.  Once that is working and you have a completed game done, I want you to add to the game:

  1. Add a second (or even more!) levels:

           2. Add a counter/score

At the end of class today, you will get feedback from your fellow designers:

+ What is something that works well or is interesting/creative?

– What is something that is not working or could be improved?

Grade 7: Congratulations, Creators!

Today I want you to think of a couple of things (which I will talk about in class, but you can use this post as a reference/check sheet).

First, I want you to consider the power of YouTube.  I want you to post your final remixes on YouTube for a reason.  If you have time today, here are two stories, which I think may impact you (and there are probably thousands of others).

Don’t Stop Believin’

An 8 year old girl makes 127,000 a month making baking videos on YouTube

1. What are ways that you can enhance your video on YouTube?

Do you want your video to be posted in the YouTube Commons for resharing/remixing?

Go to Video Manager and then see below… easy peasy!

YouTube Commons

Do you want to write something in the “About” for your video?  I found out that you cannot embed a hyperlink to text, but you can create a “linked URL” – although sometimes those are ugly.  Here’s a clear tutorial to help you.

WHEN YOU’RE DONE, PLEASE POST YOUR VIDEO HERE!!!!

If you are done with time to spare, please fill out Criterion Aiv.  What changes did you make from your planning & storyboard.

Next class you will share your video with your classmates, teachers and family to get feedback on your remix videos.

Design Inspiration: Future Farming Video

Get inspired by remarkable products designers are making around the world!  Find opportunities and problems around you to design and create new products.

Have you ever thought of a 3-D FOOD Printer?  I’m not talking about one to make donuts on repeat, but one to truly solve food problems in our world.  It’s a great idea, but really consider its impact.  What are the pros and cons of machine made food?  Do the pros outweigh the cons?

Grade 7: Congratulations, Creator!

2. Think about how you will share your video.  I want you to share it on YouTube and eventually on your blog, but do you want to share it further?  What are the best ways to do this?

3. Please make a copy of the Feedback form – I emailed a link to you. Please put your name in the title and take out “copy of”.  Please put it in our Design 7 folder and make sure they are shared with me.  Please link your video in your survey.  We will keep this survey open for a week.

4. Please fill out this form, so we can collate all your projects together to find them easily.

5. As a Designer, it is SO important (yes, initimidating sometimes) to get feedback.  Seek feedback – move outside your friend circles.  Take the good and the bad to improve next time – it will make you a bettter designer.  Also, make sure you give good constructive feedback to your fellow designers – what makes it good, what can they improve on?

Below you can access everyone’s video and evaluation link:

Learning through Play: iMovie

I can’t (and won’t) teach you everything about movie editing.  Part of learning how to do things is figuring out what you want to learn and then seeking out that information and ultimately playing around with it.

Today I’m going to do a quick basic overview of iMovie as a review.  You may have a different version of iMovie – that’s okay.  Just search for tutorials with your version or be a THINKER and try to figure out how to do things on your version by looking at the different tools.  The versions are a little different, but mostly just different in their displays.

After we do a quick overview, you will break into two groups… STOP MOTION or GREEN SCREEN

You watch a tutorial and play around with iMovie – you will need to create something and share it with small group.

Have fun!
